In this session, traditional systems of landscape conservation shaped by agrobiodiversity and local systems of alimentation were explored. Plenary sessions were included to facilitate the topic’s multidisciplinary content, bridging epistemologies and intercultural discussion regarding: the safeguarding of local rights and livelihoods, as well as the strengthening of local systems of alimentation and landscape agrobiodiversity. The five themes of agrobiodiversity and crop systems; pastoral systems and the landscape; management systems of traditional knowledge; forests and wild food systems; and new planning and governance models, were explored utilizing case study presentations, panel discussions and integrated sessions with delegates from the indigenous forum.
The session participants presented a synthesis of the presentations and of the principal discussion in each concurrent session.
The participatory workshop was held in the Potato Park and was designed to foment dialogue among the session participants and the members of the six communities of the Park. The topics discussed were: conservation and sustainable use of traditional landscapes and Collective Biocultural Indigenous Heritage.
